Every year, millions of users engage in what the FTC calls "zombie subscriptions." They meet someone on Tinder, delete their profile and delete the application from their phone, assuming they are done. A month later, Apple charges their linked credit card $24.99 for Tinder Gold.
To successfully cancel Tinder Plus, Gold, or Platinum, use the specific method below that corresponds to where you initially purchased the upgrade.
Method 1: Canceling via Apple (iPhone/iPad)
If you upgraded your matching tier directly inside the Tinder iOS app, your subscription is managed entirely by Apple.
🍎 iOS App Store Steps
- Open your iPhone Settings app.
- Tap your Name / Apple ID banner at the very top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Locate Tinder in your active list and select it.
- Tap the red Cancel Subscription button at the bottom.
*If there is no 'Cancel' button, the subscription is already canceled and will strictly end on the expiration date.*
Method 2: Canceling via Google Play (Android)
If you used a Samsung or Pixel device to upgrade, you bypassed Tinder's direct billing and used Google Play.
🤖 Google Play Steps
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your Profile Icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then tap Subscriptions.
- Select Tinder from your active subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel subscription and confirm the prompt.
Method 3: Canceling via Tinder.com (Direct Credit Card)
If you submitted your credit card directly into the Tinder App using a non-standard flow (or used a desktop browser), you are billed directly by Match Group.
💻 Direct Web Billing Steps
- Go to Tinder.com in a web browser and log in.
- Click your Profile Icon in the top left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down and click Manage Payment Account.
- Click Cancel Subscription (or disable Auto-Renew).
