Fubo TV costs upwards of $80 to $100 a month, making it one of the most expensive streaming subscriptions in existence. Huge influxes of users sign up to watch the Super Bowl or the World Cup, and then rush to cancel before the auto-renewal hits.
Fubo knows this, which is why they implement a severe "Pause" dark pattern during the cancellation flow.
How to Cancel FuboTV Online
Go to Fubo.tv
You cannot effectively cancel through your smart TV app. Open a browser on a laptop or phone and go to fubo.tv. Log in with your email.
Open Settings
Click your Profile Avatar in the top right corner and select My Account.
Navigate to Billing
Click on the Subscription & Billing tab located on the left side of your account dashboard.
Find the Cancel Button
Scroll to the very bottom of the page. Under your payment information, click the small link that says Cancel Subscription.
Decline All Offers
Fubo will immediately offer to lower your bill or give you free months of a premium channel. Click "Cancel Subscription" again to decline the retention offers.
The "Pause" vs "Cancel" Trap
Right before you finally escape, Fubo presents you with a massive golden button asking you to Pause your subscription instead. Should you do it?
- If you Pause: Fubo freezes your account for up to 6 months. Crucially, your 1000 hours of Cloud DVR recordings are saved exactly as you left them. However, billing will automatically resume on the date you select, leading to surprise $80 charges.
- If you Cancel: Your Cloud DVR recordings are permanently deleted shortly after your cycle ends. You will never be billed again.
